🏢 Group Health Insurance in San Francisco, CA

I’m Matthew Reilly, a licensed California health, life, and group insurance agent. San Francisco is both a city and a county, home to tech, finance, healthcare, and tourism employers, with many small businesses in between.

San Francisco is named for Saint Francis of Assisi through Mission San Francisco de Asís, founded in 1776 and better known as Mission Dolores. The settlement was first called Yerba Buena, after a local herb, and took the San Francisco name in 1847. The 1849 Gold Rush then grew the population from about 1,000 to 25,000 in roughly a year and a half, and in 1856 it became a combined city and county. Today tech, finance, healthcare, and tourism drive the economy, and UCSF is among its universities.

🏢 What group health options exist for San Francisco employers?Carrier Access
Employers in San Francisco have access to the broader California small- and large-group market through the carrier network I work with through our vendor partners. Which carriers have active networks in your exact location depends on which hospital systems and medical groups your employees use — I confirm the real, current list for your ZIP code before you ever see a quote, rather than promising specific carrier names up front.
📋 Does group size work differently in San Francisco than the rest of California?Group Size
No — the small group (1–50 employees) vs. large group (51+) split, participation minimums, and open enrollment timing are all set at the state and federal level, not the county level. What does change locally is which hospital systems and medical groups are strongest in your employees’ network. See the Coverage Guide for how group size and plan rules work statewide.

👨‍⚕️ “Fourth-quarter open enrollment moves fast. So do we, with fast quote turnaround when the clock is ticking.”

👩‍⚕️ “Your census is uploaded securely, and every plan is compared side by side in the Professional Suite before your renewal date lands. When did your current broker last show you the full market?”

🤝 Do I need a local agent, or can you help from outside San Francisco?Remote Access
I’m licensed to sell health and life insurance throughout California, and most of my clients handle everything by phone, text, and video — comparing options, signing paperwork, and getting enrolled without ever needing an in-person meeting. San Francisco employers get the same attention and the same carrier access as my Orange County clients; I just handle it remotely instead of walking into your office.
📍 Which cities does your coverage include in San Francisco?Service Area
San Francisco is unique among California counties — it’s a consolidated city and county, so there’s no separate list of incorporated cities within it. I work with employers throughout the City and County of San Francisco, from the Financial District to SoMa, the Mission, and beyond. I’m licensed statewide, so wherever your business is located, I can help.
