I’m Matthew Reilly, a licensed California health, life, and group insurance agent. Sacramento County is the home of California’s capital, and I help employers here, from small shops to larger teams, compare group health plans.

Sacramento County takes its name from the Sacramento River, which Spanish officer Gabriel Moraga named for the “Most Holy Sacrament.” The city of Sacramento is both the county seat and, since 1854, the state capital. With about 1.6 million people in the county, employers span every size and industry, so I always recommend confirming that your employees’ doctors and hospitals are in the plan’s network.
🏢 What group health options exist for Sacramento County employers?Carrier Access
Employers in Sacramento County have access to the broader California small- and large-group market through the carrier network I work with through our vendor partners. Which carriers have active networks in your exact location depends on which hospital systems and medical groups your employees use — I confirm the real, current list for your ZIP code before you ever see a quote, rather than promising specific carrier names up front.
📋 Does group size work differently in Sacramento County than the rest of California?Group Size
No — the small group (1–50 employees) vs. large group (51+) split, participation minimums, and open enrollment timing are all set at the state and federal level, not the county level. What does change locally is which hospital systems and medical groups are strongest in your employees’ network. See the Coverage Guide for how group size and plan rules work statewide.
🤝 Do I need a local agent, or can you help from outside Sacramento County?Remote Access
I’m licensed to sell health and life insurance throughout California, and most of my clients handle everything by phone, text, and video — comparing options, signing paperwork, and getting enrolled without ever needing an in-person meeting. Sacramento County employers get the same attention and the same carrier access as my Orange County clients; I just handle it remotely instead of walking into your office.

🥊 Do You Really Need a PEO?
👨⚕️ “Thinking about a PEO? Many lock you into one benefit structure, with admin fees built in.”
👩⚕️ “Here you get the HR tech, the compliance support, the Professional Suite at no additional cost, and full freedom to choose across the open market. What made a PEO sound appealing in the first place?”
