I’m Matthew Reilly, a licensed California health, life, and group insurance agent. Inyo County stretches from the Eastern Sierra down through Owens Valley to Death Valley, and employers across that wide, remote area can get a group plan benchmark or a new group plan from me by phone, video, and text.

Inyo County takes its name from a Timbisha word that roughly means dangerous, a name early settlers mistook for a mountain’s. Independence is the county seat and Bishop is the largest city, with about 19,000 residents spread across a huge area. About half the county is inside Death Valley National Park, and Mount Whitney, the highest peak in the lower 48 states, sits on its western edge. Tourism tied to Death Valley and the Eastern Sierra is a big part of local business. With towns this far apart, a remote agent can be a practical fit. Always confirm that your doctors and hospitals are in a plan’s network before you enroll.
🏢 What group health options exist for Inyo County employers?Carrier Access
Employers in Inyo County have access to the broader California small- and large-group market through the carrier network I work with through our vendor partners. Which carriers have active networks in your exact location depends on which hospital systems and medical groups your employees use — I confirm the real, current list for your ZIP code before you ever see a quote, rather than promising specific carrier names up front.
📋 Does group size work differently in Inyo County than the rest of California?Group Size
No — the small group (1–50 employees) vs. large group (51+) split, participation minimums, and open enrollment timing are all set at the state and federal level, not the county level. What does change locally is which hospital systems and medical groups are strongest in your employees’ network. See the Coverage Guide for how group size and plan rules work statewide.
🤝 Do I need a local agent, or can you help from outside Inyo County?Remote Access
I’m licensed to sell health and life insurance throughout California, and most of my clients handle everything by phone, text, and video — comparing options, signing paperwork, and getting enrolled without ever needing an in-person meeting. Inyo County employers get the same attention and the same carrier access as my Orange County clients; I just handle it remotely instead of walking into your office.
📍 Which cities in Inyo County do you work with?Service Area
Incorporated city: Bishop is Inyo County’s only incorporated city.
The county seat, Independence, is unincorporated, as is Lone Pine, another well-known community in the county. I’m licensed statewide — reach out and I’ll confirm coverage for your exact address.
